A Stepforward PoC

This proof-of-concept project explores a new approach to addressing homelessness by creating opportunities rather than relying solely on aid

The initiative will bring together local businesses, homeless participants, and supporting organizations on one platform that enables skill-building, training, and pathways to employment.

Through partnerships with small businesses and service providers, participants gain practical skills that can be applied in real-world positions. Supporting organizations help connect individuals to the program, while a simple platform ensures smooth collaboration.

The aim of this pilot is to test the model, learn what works best, and refine it for broader implementation. By supporting this initiative, partners contribute to a practical and scalable solution that empowers individuals to become more independent and reinvest in their communities.

One-Page Description

The Idea
We believe homelessness can be tackled not only with aid, but with opportunity. Our Proof of Concept (PoC) project will test a model that connects business partners, homeless participants, and supporting organizations through one platform.

How It Works

  • Business partners (e.g., hairdressers, dog groomers, small service providers) volunteer or invest time to train participants.

  • Homeless participants gain practical skills that help them move toward independence.

  • Supporting organizations help recruit participants and connect them to our program.

Why a PoC?

This first stage is about testing and learning:

  • Can local businesses provide effective training?

  • What type of skills are most valuable for participants?

  • What structure and resources are essential for success?

  • How to define success with the consideration of sustainability?

Funding Needs

We are raising funds to:

  • Rent a small training space.

  • Hire coordinators/trainers where needed.

  • Build a simple platform to connect partners and participants.

  • Run a pilot course in 1–2 skill areas.

Impact Goals of PoC

  • Train the first 5–10 homeless participants.

  • Engage at least 3–5 business partners.

  • Measure outcomes (skills gained, job opportunities, confidence).

  • Refine the model for a larger rollout.

Why Support This?
Supporting this PoC means helping a real-world test of a model that could transform how we empower homeless people. It’s practical, measurable, and scalable.
