Weekly Prayer #36

Over the past few months, I have been discussing what the Church is with people from different backgrounds and nations. These conversations have led me to believe that God is revealing more about what His Church truly is. Indeed, for me, the Church should be the heart of the city. 

This is my 36th weekly prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for continually revealing and teaching us what Your Church is—who Your Bride truly is. Thank You for the beautiful covenant with Your Church: that You are our Chief Shepherd; that You always love us, guide us, feed us, perfect us, and discipline us when needed. May the true churches in this city be blessed by You. May they be united through one and the same vision—You alone.

Thank You for answering my last weekly prayer, You are our united vision.

Thank You for emphasizing that the true Church is not an organization that uses Your name in vain, not a group of Christian professionals, and not merely a cultural community, but an assembly of people who passionately seek You alone, where “You are in the midst.” 

You are the Head of the church, and if You are not the Head, let it come to an end; false witness should never prosper.

I know this may seem foolish in the eyes of the world, but thank You, Lord, for giving me the courage to pray this out loud. Dear Lord, may You be in the midst of Berlin, and may this city of people become Your Church. I pray for a return to the teachings of Scripture and for lives to be filled with Your Holy Spirit.

May the true churches in Berlin hear what the Spirit says to the churches and be the light of this city.

In Jesus’ precious and mighty name I pray and receive.
